Hey ! Children, the name of the story we are going to talk about today is “Happiness of Punishment”
This is the story of Thomas Linkon, a boy of a small village in America . There is a poor laborer Tomas Linkon, Abraham Linkon is the son of Tomas Linkon.
Abraham was a lover of books and education since childhood and was fond of reading good books.
Then one day he came to know that his teacher had a book which Washington wanted to read. And his teacher’s name was Crawford.
Now because Abraham was very poor, he could not buy his book, so he thought, “let me request my teacher to please give me this book to read for a few days”
And he did the same and asked his teacher to give him the book so that He can read it and will return it to Crawford soon.
He was a very strict type of teacher. He did not like anyone to tamper with his books or spoil them.
But due to Abraham’s insistence many times, his teacher gave him the book and while giving it he said that ” Keep my books very carefully and return it to me on time”. So Abraham went to his home with the book and was very happy.
So the next day Abraham was reading the book and after reading the book, Abraham fell asleep. When he fell asleep, his father picked up the book and placed it near the window and suddenly it rained at night and due to the rain the book got spoiled, now Abraham became very upset, now Abraham had to return the book.
When the time came to do so, Crawford saw such a condition of his book, he became very angry and in anger he said to Abraham that after all, through your carelessness you have destroyed such a beautiful and valuable book. This is the reason why I did not want to give my book in your hands.
Abraham bowed his head in shame and said, Sir, I am very ashamed and very sad for this crime. If you want, you can give me any punishment. Crawford said, “You will definitely be punished, so do this, you will work in my field for three days, and after keeping the book here, Abraham went to his field.” Then Abraham explained to himself that it would not matter if in exchange for reading the book. I had to do farm work.
That I paid him the price of some books by working in his farm and he happily worked in the farm for three days, cleaning it and doing as Crawford told him.
Now on the third day , Abraham came to Crawford`s house and said to him, Sir, now I have done all the work which you told me, Is my punishment over now and I can go, then Crawford said, You can go, but take this book with you.
On hearing this, Abraham jumped with joy and he walked towards his home swinging with the book and as soon as he reached home, he found his sister there. Abraham said to his sister that I had to work in the fields for 3 days but I am not at all sad about this. I am very happy that I got the book as a reward.
